Covid 19 and semesterstart 2021

We are looking forward to the start of the academic year, an to welcoming you to us. On behalf of Volda municipality and the crisis management at the University College, we would like to share an overview of Covid-19 information, useful links, contact points and hopefully answer any questions you may have related to pandemics, vaccinations and infection control. That way, we hope you will feel safe coming to us, and that you know where to turn if you need help or information.

Covid outbreak in Volda

There has been little Covid-19 infection in Volda and the neighboring municipality of Ørsta through the pandemic, but at the end of July and the beginning of August we had a large outbreak, where more than 150 were infected - about 80 of these in Volda. Now it seems that we have gained control of the infection. We still encourage everyone to have a low threshold for taking a test if you experience symptoms or have been in a situation where there is a risk that you may have been exposed to covid-19.

Testing

The first weeks of the academic year, we will have a covid-19 test station at the college on following dates:

16.08. at 1 – 3 pm
17.08. at 1 – 3 pm
19.08. at 1 – 3 pm
24.08. at 1 – 3 pm

It is not necessary to book an appointment in advance, but if you want to, call the local corona phone: 70058960 (open 09 – 12 am). The test station is hosted at Pavilion C.

Otherwise, our local test station is located in Hovdebygda, midway between Volda and Ørsta. You can book an appointment online or call the corona phone: 70058960 (open 09-12). If you have challenges getting to Hovdebygda, let us know - we will help arrange testing in Volda.

Who should get tested?

The municipality advice students from areas with higher infection pressure to take a corona test a few days after they have arrived in Volda. This also applies if you don’t have symptoms. You won’t be quarantied pending the test result if this is the case.

If you feel ill or have been in close contact with someone that has tested positive for covid-19, we ask that you stay home and contact the corona telephone on 70058960 (open at 09 - 12) to arrange testing.

Vaccination

All students who have not been vaccinated or will take vaccine number two will be offered this in Volda. We will provide more information for the dive when it is clear how this will be carried out.

Local Covid-19 information

Volda municipality has gathered information related to Covid-19 here.

The college's own Corona pages are here. They give you answers to what regulations the school has adopted, for example what rights you have in connection with any quarantine, infection and similar Covid related challenges that may arise during the course of study. You will also find information on counselors, information about exchanges, attendance, exams and the like.

Feel free to read the article at www.hivolda.no about how we work to make the semester start and Buddy week as safe as possible, and what infection control inspections are involved.

We work hard to get a corona free, fun and social start to the academic year. We hope you’ll have a great time.

On behalf of us all, a warm welcome to Volda!

Best regards

Municipal doctor Bent Ingebrigtsen and
Crisis manager at the University College, Karen Lomeland Jacobsen.
