World-class facilities

Volda University College (VUC) is a one-campus institution where all university buildings and facilities are in short walking distance from each other. VUC can boast top facilities for teaching and learning, including a brand new media building and the newly renovated Social Science building.The Faculty of Media and Journalism boasts industry standard studios, editing suites, control rooms and cameras. And at the Learning Lab (Læringsverkstaden) students of all study programmes can get access to 3D-printers, VR-goggles, iPads, cameras and much more.

Not only will you find top facilities and equipment at VUC, but another benefit of studying here is that you will also be able to use it, borrow it and experiment with it. VUC's buildings are open for students 24/7 and students are not only allowed, but encouraged to use the facilities also in extra-curricular activities, such as for example the Student Media.

An outdoor base camp and amazing Library

But facilities does not only mean technical gadgets. VUC is also very proud of "our own island" Yksnøya which is an amazing base for our outdoor courses in sports and education. 

And we have not even mentioned yet our amazing library, where you can borrow a staff member to help you with writing your papers, search for books and articles on our online servers, and use one of the many study areas when the exam season hits. Read more about the VUC Library.
 

Short distance from classroom to the professional world

A common feature of most programs in Volda is their practical orientation. We believe there should be a short distance from the classroom to the professional world. Hence, most programs include placements and internship periods where students can apply the knowledge and experience they've gained in real work settings. This way, many students also gain valuable work experience and perhaps a foothold in a workplace that could lead to more job opportunities upon graduation.

In addition, there is also a significant amount of practical work and internships internally at VUC as well. For example in the media programs, which has their own news desk areas in the brand new media building.
