Annette Gjerde Hansen’s research, teaching and writing explore the intersection of religion, society and film. Annette is currently doing her doctorate/PhD at Volda University College titled; “Reel Bad Religions? Investigating trends of how religion is depicted in contemporary films”.
In 2012 she earned a Master of philosophy in religion and social science, from the University of Oslo. She wrote her master thesis on Lars Von Triers Antichrist. Before her academic career at Volda Unversity College, Annette was an advisor for the President and top management team at BI Norwegian Business School.

Annette is a published writer and a columnist for Kirke og Kultur, a Norwegian journal founded in 1894, as well as for the Norwegian Female Theological Forum’s academic journal St. Sunniva.
