MMP309 Professional Media Practice

This course gives students practical experience within their media profession through internship or practicum with companies and organizations. The course includes lectures and seminars aiming to facilitate best possible learning outcome from the internship and the exam production. Internal internship and approved projects may be an alternative.
In accordance with the National Qualifications Framework the student will achieve the following learning outcomes after completing the course:

- will have advanced knowledge of different ways of practical learning

- can fill a role in the media business in an independent way
- can use media theory and methods to participate in larger productions and to reflect around the professional work in an advanced way

- can use their knowledge and their skills to perform or participate in advanced productions
The course extends over one semester and consists of lectures and seminars, followed by 8-10 weeks of either 1. Internship in a company, 2. Practicum with companies/organizations, or 3. A self-driven approved project.
To be able to attend the final examination the student must have completed the internship and have submitted a confirmation from the company.

Examination results are executed in accordance with the Directive for Admission, Studies and Examination at Volda University College, chapter 5.

The exam production is a work within the student's specialization or a description of work processes. In the method report the student have to discuss the work and present qualified reflexions upon practices and routines in the practical field.
