Austral-Asian Studies Students Visit Japan
Volda University College’s Austral-Asian Studies students have recently returned to Brisbane, Australia after a visit to Japan. They study, travel and learn about different aspects of culture in Australia and Asia.
The students kept a busy schedule during their two-week stay.
– Highlights included a tour of the Peace Memorial Park in Hiroshima; a visit to Itsukushima Shrine on the island of Myajima; stops at Nijo Castle and Rokuon-Ji Temple in Kyoto; and lectures on modern Japanese history at Nihon University in Tokyo, reports lecturer Stephen Darren Dougherty from the english department.
Now the students are back at work on writing their independent research projects, many of which address Japanese issues and topics.
