STRONG INCREASE IN STUDENT NUMBERS

Volda University College (VUC) is the largest University College of the county and is important for both the community and the region. VUC is a large employer with over 300 highly qualified co-workers. We have had a strong increase in student numbers the last few years and have now close to 4,000 students, of which about 2200 are on campus. The research institute Møreforsking and student organization are also localized here as a result of VUC being situated in Volda. Collectively this generates a turnover in the region of about 650 million. The many cultural activities that stems from the University College helps to make our region attractive.

INNOVATIVE CENTER FOR MEDIATION

The management at the University College strongly believe that VUC will develop further. VUC wish to develop an innovative center for mediation with modernized facilities and updated equipment. If we are still going to be an attractive University College, we must start to plan for the future. We see the need to make a review of the whole campus, space requirements, new construction, traffic and parking solutions, grounds and the like. A project like this is also an opportunity to discuss the University College's role in the region.
