INTERNATIONAL DAY 2015 – A TASTE OF THE WORLD
A magical winter landscape formed the backdrop under this year's International Day. ─ A big party with good food and inspiring guests, Arne Humberset at the International Office summarizes.
Pro - Rector Marie Nedregotten Sørbø welcomed visitors from 12 different partner universities in Europe to the colorful event. She emphasized the value of exchange, and urged the Norwegian students to travel and experience new cultures, make new friendships and maybe even learn a new language.
─ Students from 40 countries are present at Volda University College. This day we will welcome our international students while showing the opportunities that exist for exchange from Volda, underlined Sørbø.
Among salsa rhythms and exotic dishes where both current and former exchange students at the university college, as well as representatives from partner universities, ready to answer questions from adventurous students.
IN THE HEART OF PRAGUE
Marcela from the international office at Jan Amos Komensky University Prague, could tempt with the cake koláče, and spoke warmly about the university in the heart of Prague.
─ That means short distances to everything. We have several exciting subjects for those who want to study journalism.
TO VOLDA BY CHANCE
Larissa, Benjamin and Ida were dressed in the Finnish colors.
Coincidences palyed part when Larissa found her way from Finland to sports studies in Volda. Together with her on the stand were Ida and Benjamin, who also came to Norway through the exchange agreement Nordplus, to study sports as a part of their teacherseducation.
─ On a study trip to Bjorli with my Finnish class we met students and teachers from Volda University College – that’s how I ended up here. It was very nice to see familiar faces the day I moved here, says Larissa.
ACCOMMODATING AUSTRALIANS
Drama and theater student Anette is back from a semester at Griffith University in Brisbane, Australia, and has only positive things to tell from her exchange period. She killed two birds with one stone when she combined her dream destination with studies in theater and drama.
─ I was warmly welcomed, and the teachers were incredibly accommodating. I went on exchange with the desire to experience another culture, while I think it was okay to travel to a country where I knew the language.
