Internationally known professor to hold lecture
During the month of October, Professor William J. Brown is a visiting lecturer at Volda University College. Professor Brown visits Volda College as a Fulbright Specialist and has given lectures at many universities around the world. This Wednesday, he will present on the topic “Entertainment Media for Social Change”.
Together with his colleague Dr. Benson Fraser, Prof. Brown has researched media use in over 30 different countries. They have studied how entertainment media can bring about change in the public sphere. Of particular interest to Professor Brown, is how entertainment media can alter public perceptions around the issue of HIV/AIDS, particularly in Africa.
On the 19th of October, Professor Brown will lecture in the large auditorium in BK at 12:15. Asbjørn Simonnes will respond to Brown’s lecture and lead a discussion session. All are welcome to attend.
