New case of Covid-19 in Volda

On Wednesday August 26, a student at Volda University College was confirmed infected with the novel Corona virus (Covid-19). The student got infected after a trip to Bergen, where there has been a minor outbreak of Covid-19 in the student population.

The student in question has not taken part in activities during the Buddy Week or been to the VUC campus or lectures.

“We have traced the source for this case and the student has been isolated. 4 people in Volda and 12 in Bergen are listed as close contacts in this case and all of them have been contacted and placed in quarantine. We feel in control of the situation and are not worried for a local outbreak of Covid-19 in connection with this case”, says Volda Municipality in a press release.

“The student in question travelled from Bergen to Volda by bus and arrived in the morning of August 23. There is little indication that other people on the bus could have been infected, but we encourage those who travelled with this bus to contact the health services for testing if they experience any symptoms associated with Covid-19”, is the message from local authorities.
