Curlionis - 100 years after after his death
Danuta and Jurate have both specialized in the works of the famous Lithuanian composer and artist, Mikalojus Constantine Ciurlionis. The artist is highly treasured in their home country, and many showed interest in reading his biography, written by Professor Vytautas Landsbergis, not only known as a musicologist and pianist, but also as the first elected president of Lithuania after the Soviet era (1990). There is more than a coincidence the Lithuanian music professors are visiting Volda exactly 100 years after Ciurlioni’s death, on 10th April 1911.
In connection with the visit, Danuta Petrauskaite will give an illustrated and open workshop on the artist. In her research, she has seen how Ciurlionis associated visual and auditory expressions in his works.
The lecture will take place in Kaarstad auditorium, Monday 11 April, from 13.15 o’clock (the lecture will be given in English).
The concert will take place in Kaarstad auditorium, Wednesday 13 April, from 13:15 o’clock.
