We are pleased to welcome everyone to the International Day 2023 on Wednesday February 8th. We hope that students and staff will take advantage of the possibility to find out more about global opportunities and to experience the colorful stands, exotic food, musical entertainment and interesting talks during the day.

The International Day is meant to showcase all the international activities at VUC, as well as, inspiring students and staff to become more internationally oriented and to study abroad. This year, we are pleased to welcome 22 international guests from VUC's partner universities abroad. The guests will be presenting their institutions at the exchange fair together with international students in Volda and VUC students who have completed a semester abroad.

Guest talk from polar explorer

The main guest speaker at the International Day 2023 is Samuel Massie, known for being among the crew members of the notorious Berserk polar expedition and from TV-shows such as Skal vi danse ("Strictly come dancing") and the travel show Samuel & Bestefar ("Samuel and Grandpa"). Samuel will tell the story of how a school dropout turned his life around after a year in Folk high school (post-secondary, exam free school) and through experiences in nature. Samuel uses his story for inspirational talks and has also published the book "Hold Fast" ("Hold on"). In doing so, he has taken something negative in his life and turned it into something positive for himself and others. The talk will be held in English.
