International Board at VUC.

The competition is an open call where faculties, departments and student organizations may submit applications. The applications can be on behalf of one or several units at VUC. With this call, the International Board aims to support larger projects that cannot find funding opportunities through other calls.

Important Financial Support

Arne Humberset, Head of the International Office and secretary to the International Board, explains:

– With this call, we want the faculties/departments and student organizations to "aim high" to see if we can generate large projects related to internationalization at VUC. We often find that good ideas and visions are halted due to a lack of funds, and our hope is that this call can provide important financial support for innovative projects who might otherwise not find funding. The International Board hopes to receive many strong applications in an area which Volda University College already excels.

The International Board has developed a set of criteria for the application and allocation of funds. The work with the projects should start up in the 2016/2017 school year, must have a long term impact, aim to improve, strengthen or increase elements of internationalization at VUC and be tied to the overall strategy of VUC and/or the Action Plan for Internationalization 2015-2017.

– We Can ALWAYS improve

Internationalization at VUC is recognized both locally and nationally. Never before has the college received as many new international students as we have in the autumn semester 2015.

– We have systematized and quality assured our work with student exchange, both at the central level and in the faculties. This is partially the reason for our success. At the same time, we can always do better. Some of the things we should improve is to strengthen our communication about all the forms of internationalization which comes short of semester long stays abroad, such as international guest lecturers, conference participation, study trips abroad, etc. Furthermore, we are not fully satisfied with the level of outbound student exchange from VUC. In this area, we could definitely improve - says Humberset.
