Required prerequisite knowledge

One year of university level studies, preferably in communication, media or cultural studies that include design related topics. The course is taught in English/Norwegian and sufficient English language skills are required.Admission will be based on a letter of motivation (less than one page A4) stating background and reason for applying and a design portfolio, showing the student’s design skills.

Course content

The course ”CORPORATE DESIGN PRACTISE” is a practical design course, based on assignments from either public or private organizations or companies. Customer relations, research and design (in teamwork) are the crucial elements for product and service development / innovation.

Learning outcome

Knowledge:The students will get work experience through realistic cases, based on assignments from public or private organizations and companies. They will improve their knowledge about important conditions related to design driven development and innovation processes. Skills:The students will be able to improve their design skills and the ability to target design solutions, by getting insights into organization / business environments with regards to working conditions, challenges, needs, constraints etc. General skills:The students will be prepared for the diverse challenges in future design related job situations.

Working and learning activities

The students will work in small teams, solving different customer assignments. Each assignment will be organized as a project. The students will receive mentoring during the semester. The group members will be given specific roles or responsibilities to ensure diverse areas of focus and active participation.Students failing to attend the first lecture without valid reason will be excluded.VUC reserves non-commercial user rights to work submitted during the course.
