Research group in social studies didactics

Purpose

Social studies is characterized by the fact that it is close to the pupils' everyday experiences. It makes the subject relevant and close, while the subject's influence on the students is very difficult to assess, because there are so many other sources of similar influence through the fact that the students largely live their lives in the subject content and are affected by it directly. The research group for social studies didactics bases its theme and field of work on this broad understanding of social studies didactics. The group is preoccupied with both research that provides new insight into the way the subject works, as well as development work where known insights are tested in practical teaching measures in the broad sense of the word. The research group is a cooperation between University of Bergen and Volda University College, with members from both institutions.

Forskargruppa er eit samarbeidsprosjekt mellom Det samfunnsvitskaplege fakultetet ved Universitetet i Bergen og Avdeling for samfunnsfag og historie ved Høgskulen i Volda.

Activities

Gruppa har fire samlingar i året, ei ved UiB, og tre digitale. På samlingane blir prosjektidear, artikkelutkast og ulike samfunnsfagdidaktiske tema drøfta, og samlinga ved UiB legg vi opp som seminardag med inviterte gjestar.

Project

Medlemane er knytta til ulike prosjekt innan geografi- historie- og samfunnskunnskapsdidaktikk, og fire er phd-stipendiatar. Fleire av medlemane hadde redaktøransvar og/eller skreiv kapittel i boka Nye spadestikk i samfunnsfagdidaktikken.
