Course content

The purpose of this course is to provide Master in Media Practices students with a scientific-theoretical introduction to what research into media involves. The course will enable students to execute their thesis and specifically prepare them for the demands the thesis entails, whether they choose a scientific thesis or a practical/scientific approach.

In accordance with the National Qualifications Framework the student will achieve the following learning outcomes after completing the course:

The student

  • will have solid and thorough knowledge of what research involves
  • will have good knowledge of the theories’ role in a research project
  • will have thorough knowledge of scientific theory and the research methods that are relevant in connection with media research

The student

  • will have acquired advanced skills in the methods that are appropriate for her/his work with their thesis
  • will be able to discuss the various strengths and weaknesses of different methods so that they are able to choose the appropriate method for her/his own thesis

  • will have competence to evaluate various research projects with an eye to theory, methodology and implementation
