MMP312 Research Design and Methods

The purpose of this courses is to provide AMF master’s students with a scientific-theoretical introduction into what research into media involves. The course will enable students to execute their thesis and specifically prepare them for the demands the thesis entails, whether they choose a scientific thesis or a practical/scientific approach.
In accordance with the National Qualifications Framework the student will achieve the following learning outcomes after completing the course:
- solid and thorough knowledge of what research involves
- knowledge of the theories’ role in a research project
thorough knowledge of scientific theory and the research methods that are relevant in connection with media research
- students will have acquired advanced skills in the methods that are appropriate for their work with their thesis
- students will be able to discuss the various strengths and weaknesses of different methods so that they are able to choose the appropriate method for their own thesis
- advanced knowledge of what research is
- competence to evaluate various research projects with an eye to theory, methodology and implementation
-Teaching is in the form of lectures and seminars.
