The Buddy Week, which organises two weeks full of activities for all tastes in a secure setting, wants you to feel welcome and well-cared-for as a new student in Volda.

According to Matilde Tafjord Rødhammer, chief of Buddy Week 22', the buddy week means "a fresh start, new opportunities to develop yourself, establish friends for life, and start creating your own network that you can carry with you into adulthood life".

Since there won't be any pandemic limitations during the buddy week for the first time in three years, she and the board have taken advantage of the brief period from the end of March till the summer to create a potent programme that will have something for everyone.

The programme for the buddy week is almost completed, and will be published here. Note: information in English will be included before the forthcoming weekend.

– Feel comfortable and don't push limits!

Matilde has a wish that she would like to impart to the incoming class of students:

– It's crucial to feel at ease and not feel compelled to participate in activities you don't feel are appropriate. In order to foster a positive and secure environment, it is also crucial to dare to challenge yourself to be open enough to get to know your peers.

Matilde advises, "Trust yourself, but also your Buddies". To ensure that all potential circumstances are handled resposibly, they must have undergone extensive training from the Buddy Week board in cooperation with sikresiden.no and the local police authorities.

Start the week off right with pizza

This year, the Buddy Week has organised an event in the canteen at the Berte Kanutte House on Monday evening, the day before the official opening on Tuesday. You can come here for a meal with free soft drinks and pizza, as well as an informal opportunity to meet new fellow students from other disciplines. Please note that bringing and drinking alcohol on campus area is not permitted!

The Buddy Week is expanded to two weeks

Also new from this year, the Buddy Week will once again last over two weeks, the way it was before pre pandemic. Matilde belives that doing so will keep the things from becoming too hectic.

– We understand that the first week of study is full of impressions and information to process. We want students to have an easier start to their studies and to be able to get started comfortably. As a result, the first week will be more intense, followed by a easier second week with events such as "walk and talk" and "food and talk" in colloboration with the welfare group, says the Buddy Week chief.
