There will be more in-person teaching at VUC again from 1. February. Here is the information and advises which could be useful when you are returning to campus.
When the Norwegian government increased infection control measures at the end of 2021, the University College decided that every class should have online learning lectures throughout January 2022. Due to the lately reduced measures, we will now start to facilitate in-person attended classes again.
Lectures, social distance and face masks
To maintain appropriate social distancing, VUC has leased the 'Uppheim' premises again as a teaching venue, and it may be suitable to lease other venues in Volda for some days as well. Teaching will in some cases end at 17:00, which is slightly longer than normal.
Teaching will be given in safe environments - therefore, some special guidelines has been added for social distancing, use of face masks and testing;
- In lecture halls, every other seat can be used. Students are strongly advised to use face masks during classes in lecture halls, when there is not possible to maintain 1 metre social distance.
- In other classrooms there will be 1 metre distance between students. Exceptions can be made if there is necessary to implement practical skills training. In this instance, the University College will facilitate use of rapid lateral flow tests and use of face masks.
Students will be notified in Canvas how lectures will be given in each course.
Note: session-based teaching will generally be online meetings throughout February.
PCR tests, rapid lateral flow tests and vaccination
The University College has now been supplied with stocks of PCR tests which can be picked up at the Student Service desk.
Students can collect their own PCR test and have one stored at home in the case of need. You cannot pick up a test yourself if you are infected or have symptoms. You will then have to try a third-party to pick one up for you.
Volda Muncipality provide tests at
Test station in Hovdebygda (by the airport)
Volda town hall (address Storgata 2, 6100 Volda)
You hand in tests at these locations:
- Test station in Hovdebygda (during opening hours of the test station)
- Volda community centre: A box has been set up for hand-in of tests by the entrance of the small test room at Volda community centre (address Storgata 14, 6100 Volda), the entrance is located towards Storgata (the other side of the building relative to the entrance of the movie theatre).
PCR tests is now DIY testing, and the test station in Hovdebygda is now only for hand-outs and hand-ins of completed tests.
The University College will indefinitely be supplied with tests from the Muncipality every week in the time ahead. VUC will not have enough tests for all teaching from 1. February, but will prioritise practical teaching where it is difficult maintaining 1 metre social distancing or for students who are regarded as close contacts. Rapid lateral flow test will be handed out by those who teach, not by the students themselves.
PCR test results can be obtained at Helsenorge.no.
Note: If you don't have a national ID number or D number, you must then agree with the testing sites to be contacted by phone.
