Volda University College (VUC) are happy to offer 10 refugees an extra spot in our Norwegian course. These positions are available due to extra funding as a consequence of the war in Ukraine.

Do you already have an academic background, or are you just starting on your higher education? Regardless, we want to welcome you to Volda University College. We aim to provide a general offer, and find that the most relevant study program is our one-year Norwegian language course Norwegian language and civilization for interntional students (NIS).

About the course

NIS gives you 60 ECTS credits. The course starts at the very beginners level, so there are no requirements of prior Norwegian language skills in order to be accepted. By completing, you will be at advanced level (B2), and able to apply for study programmes taught in Norwegian.

What requirements do I need to meet?

Due to the extra-ordinary situation and the 10 spots reserved for refugees, we are able to give some exeptions to the normal admission requirements. We will individually review the applications. We do need you to document sufficient English language skills. This can be done through a test. We’ll help you through this process!

Apply from July 25th

You can apply from July 25th through August 1st. If you want to register for more information, please fill out this online form, and we will reach out to you when the application process starts.

If you have any questions about the extra-ordinary admission for refugees, send an e-mail to sok@hivolda.no

You will find more information on higher education for refugees in Norway on the website of the Norwegian Directorate of Higher Education and Skills (Hk-dir) and our International office's information page
