Department of Religious Studies

The Department of Religious Studies (IRL) is responsible for reasearch and teaching in the fields of Religion, Philosophy, Cultural Encounters, and Theology. We offer a broad and flexible range of courses, both on campus and online.

We offer several courses and studies:

Examen Philosophicum
Undergraduate studies in religion and culture, both on campus and online.
BA in Religion and Culture
MA in Cultural Encounter (in cooperation with Department of History)
Religious studies at different courses in teacher educations

Department of Religious Studies collaborates with several institutions worldwide. We arrange symposiums and conferences. The faculty members participates in different research groups, both national and international. The department run its own scientifc book series, Relgionsfag Profil, with publications both in English and Norwegian. The series is published by Cappelen Damm Akademisk. Head of department is Dr. Ralph Meier.
