Course content

The course contextualizes Risk Communication, Issue, and Crisis Management as essential components of Strategic Communication, Public Relations, and Journalism, particularly in crisis situations. It offers a visual and case-oriented presentation of concepts such as Risk Society, Issue Management, Risk Communication, Media, and Public Relations.

A key perspective is how Risk Society Theory provides both a historical background and a contemporary framework for assessing problems, issues or what we consider as risks. Issue Management involves the systematic evaluation of an organization within its broader environment. This could apply to companies, public authorities, political parties, or associations, aiming to identify potential issues that could impact the public or the organization itself at an early stage. The objective is to respond appropriately, either by participating in the public opinion-forming process or by adapting organizational policies.
