TOD109 Acting for The Camera
At least 60ECTS in theater studies with a minimum of 30ECTS in theater production or equivalent performance studies
This course is a practical introduction to acting for the camera.
The students will work on themes like:
- Script memorization and analysis
- Theory and technique of acting for the camera
- On-set experience in various formats and genres
- Self taping, audition
In accordance with the National Qualifications Framework the student will achieve the following learning outcomes after completing the course:
The Student
- Has basic knowledge of tools and techniques for on-camera acting
- Has basic knowledge of specific and select academic terminology within acting for the camera
- Has knowledge of the film actors process from script to screen
The Student
- Has developed basic skills in acting for the camera
- Can use academic terminology and reflect over challenges in acting for the camera both verbally and in writing
- Understands set etiquette and can take driection on a professional set
The Student
- Can independently and confidently warm up, maintain and develop their artistry in on camera work
- Can cooperate with course teachers and fellow students in practical and theoretical work
- Has sufficient technical knowledge to self tape short scenes
The course is a collaboration between theoretical, practical and individual studies and will offer different modules as exemplified below:
- Practical on-camera training
- Short film and single scene shoots
- Seminars and workshops
- Collaborative group work
- Self-assessment and individual academic reflection - logging/journaling
Attendance:
All course activity is mandatory. A total active attendance record of 80% or higher is required for the student to be registered for the course exam and thus complete the course.
Work requirement:
- Submission of two separate project video clips
- Written academic reflection on the students own work during the course
Grading will be done in accordance with the Regulations governing admission, studies and examinations at Volda University College.
